Week of 9/18 – 9/22
This week in enhanced math we will continue our second unit. Students will learn about area. Area is the space inside of a shape. Students will learn two ways to find area. One way to find area is by counting squares and the other is by multiplying the length and width of a rectangle (see chart above). Students will then learn about factors and multiples. Factors are the numbers that are multiplied to equal a product (see chart above). Multiples are the product of a given number and another factor that are multiplied (see chart above).

Week of 9/11 - 9/15
This week in enhanced math we will continue our second unit. Students will learn how to use a multiplication pattern table to locate answers to multiplication problems. Students will then learn two multiplication tricks to help them with their 3s, 6s, and 9s facts. Students will learn the “Add a Group” multiplication trick for 3s and 6s (see chart above). They will also learn the “Remove a Group” multiplication trick for the 9s facts (see chart above). Next, we will learn how to multiply three numbers. Finally, we will review and apply the associative property of multiplication (see chart above).
